About the Department

Food Science and Technology is an Innovative Programme established by UGC in the year of 2012. This Department mainly focuses on the handling, processing, preserving, manufacturing of various food commodities and understanding the basic concepts related to Food Science and Technology applying those concepts and motivating students for the better establishment of future.

Mission

  1. To provide facilities for academic Excellence, Training in Food processing, preservation, Manufacturing and handling skills.
  2. To enable students become agents of social Transformation by imparting Skills in Research.

Objectives

The objective of this course is to provide an appropriate depth of knowledge and skills in subjects related to the food industry to the rural youth. Further the course aims

  1. To promote value addition with an emphasis on locally produced food products
  2. To achieve better integration of farm to consumer
  3. To promote teaching and research in food processing and preservation
  4. To promote teach and research in supply-chain and Marketing managements
