THE NEW CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM (CBCS)
2008 - 2009

 

The new Choice Based Credit System based on the guidelines of the Government of Tamil Nadu is introduced for all the Under Graduate and Post Graduate Courses from the academic year 2008 - 2009 onwards.


CHARACTERISTICS OF CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM

The courses under the CBCS are introduced in order to excel further in Higher Education and hence they are :

  • broad-based.
  • learner-oriented.
  • suiting the abilities of the learners so as to enhance their career opportunities.
  • offered at the interdepartmental level.
  • providing scope to acquire additional credits.
  • giving greater autonomy to the departments in designing new and innovative courses.
 
Part I Tamil/Hindi/French
Part II English
Part III Core, Allied and Core Electives.
Part IV Basic Tamil / Advanced Tamil, Environmental Studies, Religion and Value Education.

Non Major Electives, Skill Based Electives.
Part V (Co-curricular)
Extension
Physical Education / NCC / NSS / YRC / ROTARACT.
ARISE - Compulsory for all II Year U.G. Students.
Optional Self- Learning Courses.
