Warm Greetings.

I am delighted to announce that Arul Anandar College celebrates its Golden Jubilee Year (1970-2020), the year of the Lords favour. The Bible says, “...that fiftieth year shall be a jubilee for you?it shall be holy to you” (Leviticus 25: 11-12). Jubilee is an occasion to recollect the amazing ways in which the college has fulfilled its vision and mission of building men and women for others who will create an ambiance of peace and fraternity, a dire need today. It also offers the prospect to contemplate the past achievements of the college as well as look into challenges that lie ahead. At this juncture, I reckon it a great pleasure to welcome Rev. Fr. Dr. John B. Pragasam, S.J. the new Rector and wish him all the graces and blessings to lead us and inspire us in all our academic endeavors. I take this opportunity to extend my deeper sense of gratitude and appreciation to Rev. Fr. Dr. Amal Kulandaisamy, S.J. for his committed efforts and support to the progress of the institution.

In this remarkable year of Golden Jubilee celebration, I welcome all the faculty, administrative staff, students and stakeholders of AAC to head towards the horizon of excellence. I gratefully remember all the teaching and non-teaching stalwarts of the past decades who by their selfless, unstinted and spirited service had enormously promoted the growth of the institution.

The college has planned to introduce a plethora of academic and extension activities to commemorate the Golden Jubilee year. The primary objective of Jesuit Higher Education is to liberate the youth from the constrains of ignorance, distorted values and prejudices and transform them into leaders with an undying devotion to serve the society. The AAC academe must always change, renew and rejuvenate ourselves and move towards Magis “better the best”.

Let me sincerely appreciate the great support and co-operation rendered by all the parents and alumni in the development of the institution which I earnestly look forward in the Golden Jubilee year too. Let us all together joyously celebrate the Golden Jubilee of our esteemed institution with undivided spirit of solidarity.

Admission Policy

Student Admissions

AAC follows a transparent admission process in admissions to all the courses. Every year the College publishes a prospectus indicating the courses offered, fee structure and the eligibility criteria. The Institution publishes the admission procedure in its website http://www.aactni.edu.in. Advertisements in leading Tamil and English dailies regarding the courses and admission details are also given.

General Courses
  • Student admission to the UG courses is based on their academic performance in the Higher Secondary Examination and the reservation policy stipulated by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
  • Apart from this, the Management's policy of "Preferential Option for the Poor" is given due consideration while admitting the students.
  • For PG courses, the marks obtained in the UG courses along with the marks obtained in the entrance test conducted by the College is taken in to account for admission.
Professional Courses
  • For admission to MCA course the performance in the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) is also considered.
Jesuit Admission Policy
  • Preferential option for the Poor is the guiding policy in student admission
  • On an average 70 per cent of the students admitted belong to the socially and economically disadvantaged sections of the society.
  • Priority is given to the girl students from the local area.
  • The rank and selection list are displayed on the College Notice Board.
  • Staff facilitate the students in selecting their academic programme.
  • Principal meets students along with their parents/guardians during admission.

MOU

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

Arul Anandar College (autonomous) though located in a rural area, has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with

  1. Universities in USA
  2. Gandhigram Rural University,Gandhigram
  3. MAPUA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, Manila, Philippines on Nano Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering R&D
  4. Namur University, Belgium and with industries in Madurai.

The MoU

  1. Enables Arul Anandar College to offer degree programmes of the foreign Universities in its campus with the transfer of credits.
  2. Facilitates both institutions to conduct research and extension jointly.
  3. Creates network for further collaboration.
  4. Results in job placement of the poor and the marginalized.

NAAC Accreditation

  1. The college all its academic programmes, places great emphasis on moral and spiritual values which actually should form the crux of the quality of life in any society The opportunities for growth created by the Jesuit group with a spirit of service and love have made an impact on the minds of people who are very appreciative of the great service for integrated human development.
  2. The most important and relevant factor, which strikes the team (NAAC), is the vision of the Department of RDS, which is an interdisciplinary field to empower the rural poor for an integrated rural development.
  3. Teaching, Research and Extension bring the students and the people together through the RDS programme.
  4. One remarkable aspect of the whole programme is the importance of computer literacy to all the under graduate students to meet the challenges of the present day.
  5. The college has achieved excellence in its outreach and extension programme(s).
  6. The Controller's Office maintains strict secrecy and confidentiality in all matters of the conduct of examination.
  7. The extension programme of the college has made a name for itself in Karumathur, with its sincere efforts and remedial action to transform the village into a better place with informed, humane and processing desirable values.
  8. With its large collection of books, journals and periodicals and its reprographic facilities, the library is put to very good use.
  9. The extensive play grounds of the college give students ample opportunity to excel in sports and games.
  10. Students are given academic counselling in their respective Departments through seminars and talks delivered by professionals in various fields.<
  11. The Arul Anandar College Alumni Association (AACAA) promotes friendship among the alumni and encourages activities that spread secularism, alleviate poverty, protect the environment and safeguard human rights.
  12. The autonomy of the college is carefully monitored to ensure true academic powers.

  18. In recognition of its people-centered innovative courses, the college was accredited with the coveted FIVE STARS by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) in 2001.
  19. The consistent track record was further proved when it was reaccredited with 'A' Grade with a CGPA of 3.66 in 2014.

Arul Anandar College Alumni Association (AACAA) has been vibrant and doing meaningful service to the students and the community. In order to facilitate the congregation of alumni in their own native locations, it has started regional chapters at Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Kodaikanal, etc. Besides, this association is organising regular meetings of alumni at regular intervals and sustains the spirit of brotherhood and social commitment. The following activities highlight the significance of this association:

  1. Regular chapter meetings and annual meetings
  2. Regular publication of Alumni News Letter "ECHOES"
  3. Hosting the Convocation Day and felicitating the new graduates
  4. Instituting Distinguished Alumni Award
  5. Distributing scholarship worth Rs.18,000/- every year for the poor and deserving students who pursue studies in the college
  6. Felicitating the retiring staff conducting a DTP course for drop-out women in the age group of 16-25 in order to enhance their livelihood opportunities
  7. As a social commitment, AACAA has invited all the elected Panchayat Representatives of Chellampatti Panchayat Union and felicitated them at a function on the campus

Student Counsellors

The counselling centre with professionally qualified counsellors became a full-fledged functional unit during the academic year 2004-05. Prior to this the counselling requirements of the students were managed by the members of the faculty. Professional counselling centre was established with the objective of promoting mental health and enriching the personality development of the staff and students.

Three professionally trained counsellors form the counsellng services team at AAC. Our services include: personal counselling for student development? both academic and non-academic in individual and group settings. In addition to counselling students directly? we are also available for consultation for the staff? parents of our students and the management. Outside agencies also benefit from our services.

  • Consultation and Programme Planning for ?Muhil?, a Siddha Treatment and Research Centre.
  • Consultation and Counselling Services to NGOs involved in helping the HIV/AIDS population.
