Department of Philosophy

The curriculum of philosophy being a unique programme, the student community needs a special orientation on it. Hence, the department organizes a Philosophy Orientation programme for the first year UG and PG students. The objective is to initiate the new students into philosophy by highlighting its importance in their day to day life and lifelong formation, and to make the students aware of the various dimensions of the programme as well as the department activities.

The Department of Philosophy offers a week long Sanskrit course to the first year UG and PG students in the beginning of every academic year. The course is to facilitate the students in their learning of Indian Philosophy courses with Sanskrit terms and to enrich their understanding.

Department of Philosophy works towards enhancing the knowledge of the students and widening their philosophical horizons beyond the classroom structure of teaching and learning component. Periodical Guest Lectures are arranged with renowned national and international resource persons, and National Level Seminars are conducted to keep the students updated with recent developments in the field of philosophy.

The Association activity of the department provides space for the students to express their philosophical quest through paper presentations and group discussions with participatory interactive sessions. The Association also creates an opportunity for cultivating leadership quality and brings out the inborn talents through various related activities.
