Dear Staff and Students,
Greetings and warm wishes to everyone!
It gives me immense joy to welcome you to Arul Anandar College, an institution with a rich history, a strong
social mission, and an unwavering commitment to the holistic formation of young people.
Arul Anandar College was founded in 1970 as De La Salle College by the late Most Rev. Justin Diraviam, then
Archbishop of the Madurai Archdiocese. In 1972, the College was renamed Arul Anandar College when the Society of
Jesus (Jesuits) took over its administration. Since then, the Jesuits have remained deeply committed to the
education, empowerment, and integral formation of the young people of this region.
Our mission has always gone beyond academic excellence. We believe that education must transform individuals and,
through them, transform society.
At a time when female infanticide was a serious social concern in this region, our College gave special
importance to the education of girls. We were happy to see the number of girl students increase steadily over
the years. Today, however, various social and economic factors have affected enrolment. We remain committed to
understanding these challenges and creating an environment where every young woman feels safe, respected,
confident, and empowered.
Another important concern before us is student dropout. Behind every dropout there is a story—financial
difficulty, family responsibility, academic struggle, lack of confidence, or uncertainty about the future. We do
not want any student to discontinue education because of poverty. The Management is ready to extend support
wherever possible. Students facing financial difficulties are encouraged to approach me, the Student Counsellor,
or their teachers. Please do not suffer in silence. Seeking help is a sign of courage, not weakness.
A Message to Our Gen Z Students
Dear students, you belong to a generation with extraordinary access to technology, social media, artificial
intelligence, information, and global opportunities. These tools can help you learn, create, communicate,
innovate, and build your future. But remember: technology must be your tool, not your master.
Use social media responsibly. Think before you post, share, comment, or forward. Protect your time, privacy,
dignity, and mental well-being. Do not allow endless scrolling to replace meaningful learning, real
relationships, creativity, or personal growth.
The world today expects more than a degree. Along with academic knowledge, develop communication skills, critical
thinking, creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, digital literacy, adaptability, and
leadership. Participate in internships, projects, research, sports, clubs, competitions, entrepreneurship,
cultural activities, and community service.
To our students from rural and first-generation backgrounds, I especially wish to say: Do not allow your
background to limit your dreams. Your circumstances may shape your beginning, but they need not determine your
destination. Speak, participate, ask questions, make mistakes, learn, and grow. Confidence comes through
practice, not perfection.
Your mental and emotional well-being also matters. If you experience stress, anxiety, loneliness, academic
pressure, family difficulties, or uncertainty about your future, do not hesitate to seek guidance. Our teachers,
mentors, counsellors, and management are here to support you.
Let Us Build the Future Together
To our teaching and non-teaching staff, I appeal to you to continue your service with dedication, compassion,
patience, and teamwork. Let us identify students who need support, encourage those who lack confidence, nurture
those with potential, and ensure that every learner receives an opportunity to succeed.
To our students, I say:
Dream boldly.
Learn continuously.
Communicate confidently.
Use technology
wisely.
Respect others.
Serve society.
Never give up on yourself.
Our vision is not merely to produce graduates, but to form competent professionals, compassionate human beings,
responsible citizens, and committed leaders who can contribute meaningfully to society. Let us work together to
take Arul Anandar College to greater heights—not simply by becoming a bigger institution, but by becoming a
better institution that creates better human beings and a better society.
May God and our patron saint St. Arulanandar bless and guide our students, staff, their families, and the entire
Arul Anandar College community.
Together, Let Us Learn, Grow, Serve and Build a Better Future.
With prayerful wishes and blessings,
