Arul Anandar College (Autonomous), a Jesuit Institution, was founded in 1970. It is a minority Catholic Co-educational Institution, affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University. St. Arul Anandar (St. John de Britto) is the Patron of our college. Born in Lisbon in 1647 in a wealthy and aristocratic family, he became a Jesuit and volunteered to come to India in September 1673.
The College was founded at Karumathur, a rural village, to serve the rural students who are socially and economically disadvantaged. The college has been accredited with 'A' Grade by NAAC in 2001, 2008, 2014 and 2022. The College is celebrating its Golden Jubilee, marking 50 years of educational excellence and service to the rural community.
