Rotaract Club

Vision

The Rotaract Club of Arul Anandar College envisions itself as a unit of an International Youth Organisation that supports and promotes youth to play a vital role in the development of Society.

Mission

Our mission is to encourage our members to become responsible citizens and competent leaders in future.

Introduction

Rotaract clubs are part of a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. This effort starts at the community level but knows no limits in its outreach. Rotaractors have access to the many resources of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation.

The Rotaract club of Arul Anandar College has conducted programs which are the vital components of Nation building. Various orientation programmes were organized in association with Rotary Club of Madurai North West. We have conducted TNPSC Group IV training to improve career opportunities. We also conducted eye awareness programmes, eye check-up camps, health awareness camps, and blood donation camps.

We conducted seminars on Women's participation in politics, transgender in society, and women empowerment which created huge awareness among students. We were actively involved in creating awareness about cleanliness through the Swachh Bharat Scheme, child abuse, and child rights, and facilitated social responsibility through an Election Awareness Programme. We organized Samathuva Pongal in Melepacheri Village and an awareness programme on De-addiction of Alcohol in association with Madurai Collectorate.

History

Rotaract has evolved quickly in its short but dynamic history. In the early 1960s, Rotary clubs around the world began to sponsor university youth groups as community service projects. The 1967–68 RI President, Luther H. Hodges, and the RI Board of Directors considered this club activity to have international relevance, and Rotaract was approved in 1968 as an official program for Rotary clubs. The first club chartered was the Rotaract Club of North Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, on 13 March 1968.

Several decades later, the Rotaract program has grown into a strong, international network of 9,539 clubs in 178 countries and geographical areas. Rotaract's 2,19,397 members are young men and women (ages 18 to 30) who serve the needs of their communities, widen their personal and professional contacts, and increase their understanding of the world.

To familiarise with the Vision and Mission of the Rotaract Club.
To understand the role of youth in transforming society.
To be aware of the social responsibility of the youth.
To enable students to become responsible citizens.
To help students explore their role as global citizens.

Goals

To develop professional and leadership skills.
To emphasize respect for the rights of others based on recognition of the worth of each individual.
To recognize the dignity and value of all useful occupations as opportunities to serve.
To recognize, practice, and promote ethical standards as leadership qualities and vocational responsibilities.
To develop knowledge and understanding of the needs, problems, and opportunities in the community and worldwide.
To provide opportunities for personal and group activities to serve the community and promote international understanding and goodwill toward all people.
