1970

The College was founded with BA Philosophy and BA Economics.

1971

BSc Mathematics was introduced.

1972

It became a Jesuit Institution and was renamed as Arul Anandar College.

1973

Undergraduate course in Rural Development Science was started.

1975

Bharat Ratna and Nobel Laureate Saint Mother Teresa of Kolkata graced the campus.

1979

BSc Chemistry was introduced.

1980

  • BA History was introduced.
  • MSc RDS was started.

1984

MA Economics was introduced.

1987

The Alumni Association was formally inaugurated.

1988

BSc Physics was introduced.

1989

MPhil Economics was introduced.

1995

  • Silver Jubilee Year of AAC.
  • The Parent-Teacher Association was established.

1999

Self-financed courses in MCA and BCom with Computer Applications were started.

2000

  • Computer Literacy programme was initiated for all the courses.
  • Dept. of RDS was formally recognized as a Research Centre.

2001

  • Dept. of Economics became a Research Centre.
  • The College became co-educational.
  • AAC was accredited by NAAC with FIVE STARS.

2003

  • BBA (SF) and BSc IT & M(SF) were introduced.
  • Choice Based Credit System introduced – UG (Aided) courses.

2004

  • BSc Physical Education (SF) was introduced.
  • BSc Mathematics (SF) was introduced.

  • Internal Quality Assurance Cell was established.
  • MSc Mathematics (SF) was introduced.

  • Career Oriented Courses (COCs) were introduced.
  • NAAC Reaccreditation – ‘A’ grade (CGPA of 3.52).

  • Women Studies Centre established.

  • State Level Fr. Montaud Hockey Tournaments.

Bridge Course in English for UG first year students introduced.

Dept. of Physics became a Research Centre.

NAAC Reaccreditation – ‘A’ grade (CGPA of 3.66).

DST FIST was awarded.

  • BA Tamil (SF) was introduced.
  • MSc Chemistry (SF) was introduced.

Nine Additional COC Courses were introduced.

  • MA (SF) English was introduced.
  • Outcome Based Education (OBE) was introduced for UG Programmes.

  • Golden Jubilee Year of AAC.
  • Autonomy Status was extended till 2026–27.
  • Outcome Based Education (OBE) was introduced for PG Programmes.

  • Media Centre was established.
  • Nutri Corner of the Department of FST was started.

  • NAAC Reaccreditation – ‘A’ grade (CGPA of 3.15).
  • BCom (General) (SF) was introduced.
  • Arul Anandar Institute of Philosophy (AIP) was established.

  • BCA (SF) and MSc Computer Science (SF) were introduced.
  • Departments of Mathematics and Philosophy were recognized as research centres.

Conversion of B.Sc IT & M (SF) into B.Sc IT (SF).
