Department of Mathematics


The field of Mathematics lays the founding for all the sciences and Arul Anandar College is highly privileged to establish the Department of Mathematics in the year 1970 along with its inception. The establishment of the department was mainly for the Pre-University Course with Mathematics as one of the subjects. The three-year B.Sc Mathematics degree programme was introduced in the year 1971. The co-education system was introduced in 2001 and the Choice-based Credit System was introduced in 2003. The overwhelming demand from the stakeholders paved way for introducing one more section under Self-Financed stream in the academic year 2004-2005. From the academic year 2005- 2006, the department introduced M.Sc. Mathematics degree programme to raise the academic standards of the rural students.

The department also offers Carrier Oriented courses to promote employability skills. Seven of the faculty are Ph.D holders and the department is highly sound in research activities. The department has emerged as one of the leading departments of Arul Anandar College especially in the aspects of organizing conferences at national and international level, annual inter-collegiate meet at state level, student's strength, student's academic & extracurricular achievements, pass percentage and placement. The department is highly keen on satisfying the dynamic academic needs of the student community and it has meticulously framed the need-based curriculum under Outcome Based system of education in the academic year 2019-2020. The department has laid the road map for attaining its future goal of becoming research department to provide quality education to socially and economically under privileged section of the society.
